Crown Burger

On the second day of my recent Salt Lake City trip, my friend and colleague, Brien Jones, insisted that we have dinner at Crown Burgers. He explained that this establishment was neither an upscale dinner house nor a New York deli, but instead was a local family owned institution that pursued culinary artistry through the medium of “burgers”. He also informed me that their signature burger - the Crown Burger - included my beloved ingredient- pastrami.

Our colleague, Jonathan Jackson, joined us for dinner. We arrived at the South State Street location of Crown Burgers. We were greeted by Lexi Katsanevas, a member of the family and manager of this store. This was much more than a classic burger shop. The menu included not only an assortment burgers, fries, onion rings, shakes and floats, but also many hot and cold sandwiches, a variety of salads and dinner plates.

I ordered the Crown Burger - a hamburger patty with lettuce, tomato, onions, cheese, thousand island dressing and hot juicy pastrami on a grilled sesame seed bun. Beginning with the first bite, all of the flavors came together beautifully. It was simple, classic and delicious.

My Crown Burger experience is best summed up by the expression, “A picture is worth a thousand words.” Look at the photo above. Any questions?
